Forgiveness in Canada

In 2007 Prime Minister Harper led the nation in asking the First People's forgiveness for the establishment of the residential school system in 1874.    This school system brought untold hardship and emotional pain to hundred's of thousands of our first peoples.   The asking for forgiveness is a major step in the healing process, not only for the First People's but also for the nation of Canada itself.   No nation can truly prosper without dealing with it's past.  This residential school system has opened wide the door for a curse to be upon the land.  This seeking  forgiveness must come, not only with a deep sense of the realization of the atrocity that has taken place, but also a willingness to do everything possible to help bring healing to those who have suffered at the hands of this nation.
